Any qualities concerning something that would be interesting yet fun for people to read and would be more prone to discussion rather than just me telling you about a topic.
I agree that news should be somewhat fun to read (depending on the type of news) because if it is not then no one would be interested in it and read it.
When choosing an article for today's discussion I looked for articles that contained certain qualities. This includes news that is interesting and would be appealing to people our age.
When choosing an article for today's discussion I looked for certain qualities. These qualities included relivance and imporants. I wanted to choose a topic that related to whats going on around us and was important to todays world. I also agree with Maggie when she made the point that she chose something that would be apealing to people our age.
i thought of it being something that everyone knows on whats going on. something big that can make the world change. i chose an article on hurricane issac and how it got through to the mississippi dam and it broke through nearly. that is major because the gulf coast can get flooded
Thats an interesting topic. What could possibly happen if the Gulf Coast flooded? I'm not fermilliar with that topic but it'd be interesting to hear about.
When looking for an article for today's discussion I was looking for something that was recent, interesting, and something that was relevant to people for a few reasons. If it isn’t relevant or interesting to people then nobody would read the article or care to read it. I was looking for it to be recent because if it isn’t new news then it doesn’t affect anyone at that moment so it won’t be something people want to read or listen to.
While choosing an article for todays discussion, there were many things that were necessary for the article to have that made it "newsworthy". One of these qualities is that it is something that someone is interested in. If no one is interested in the article, it isn't really news, it's just unneeded information. Another thing that the article needed to be was extremely current. If the article isn't current, it is old news and no longer relevant. If an article is interesting and current, it is also "newsworthy", which is how I chose an article for todays discussion.
although my article was very gossipy, my aricle was about the TV show Jersey Shore being cancelled, which is somewhat interesting to people who have seen the show.
When looking for an article for today's discussion, I wanted to choose something that a lot of people wouldn't know about. There are topics out there that are very common in the newspapers and internet that everyone already knows about it and they wouldn't be learning something knew. I chose an article that isn't as important but a fun thing to know. For example, I chose an article about how Besse Cooper, the oldest person in the world, turned 116.
While choosing my article I decided to go a little less mainstream, I felt that everything today is *Hey what are the stars doing?* Because everything today is so...superficial, I decided to go with something in its raw form, nature. I think that maybe everyone would feel better if we forgot all of the meaningless stuff, and focused on the stuff thats beautiful, natural, and something that is ever lasting througout time. Thats why my article is about the blue moon thats happening tonight.
When choosing an article It would have to be something that people want to learn more about an article that people want to understand. Not something that was already talked about over the news a hundred times. There would have to be an article that catches their attention, and small details about the topic that will make them start to question in there head. That's when you can tell that they will be amusing that they'll be wanting to read more.
I think an article is newsworthy if it is current, and is interesting or helpful information. For example news about political debates or weather conditions (like hurricanes) may be necessary because they are affecting you or people you know.

ReplyDeleteI agree with your reasons, and my reasons were also similar reasons, that it should be interesting and current.

ReplyDeleteYou showed your thought process well through the paragraph, it was a nice explanation. What article did you end up deciding was "newsworthy"?
